Believe in your dreams… is the motto of Edinburgh-born Vivian Napier.

She is one of a growing school of artists who take colour energies as their primary inspiration and create work full of vibrant colour and depth.

Believing in the healing powers of positive energy, Vivian works intuitively and ‘feels’ the colours as she works with them. Nature, particularly landscapes and trees forms the basis of her work and her preference for the medium of encaustic wax enables her to combine the energy from the land into her paintings.

This has come to life most recently in her new work, inspired by the Outlander books. Vivian takes her raw materials – the wax – and leaves it to rest in the magical Highland locations from the story.

Absorbing the natural energies at each site, the wax then becomes the story and Vivian lets it guide her, translating the energy into pictures on to the canvas. She has been moved by the resulting paintings and wants to share those with other Outlander fans and with those who love the enchanted landscapes of Scotland.
